Sandalwood: ‘King Of Woods’
Nestled into the heart of Centaurus is sandalwood, a celebrated note that lends a lingering velvety voluptuousness to any fragrance. Hailed the
‘King of Woods’, it has become one of the most sought-after perfume ingredients in the world, with a small sandalwood tree now commanding up to $15,000 or more.
Cherished throughout history for its calming nature and perceived spiritual properties, sandalwood is cultivated by The House of Creed’s partners on Sri Lankan plantations that follow ethical practices to preserve the ingredient for future generations. Here, the outer layers of thetree are delicately removed, unveiling the dense heartwood that contains the precious oil. A meticulous process of distillation soon follows lasting up to 36 hours and leaving behind a high-quality oil with a rounded, creamy, woody aroma that endures.
This exquisite ingredient lends a grounding, earthy presence to Centaurus that balances the bold, bright blaze of beaming opening notes and the enveloping vanilla at its base.

Orris exudes a floral, woody and powdery essence that is truly unmatched. Derived from the root of the iris plant, it is grown underground for over three years, before being collected, cleaned, and dried for a further three years—and this is all before the extraction process can even begin.
This stellar ingredient glimmers like precious stardust within Delphinus alongside a celestial symphony of warming spices, rich florals and sumptuous swirls of vanilla, collectively conjuring a spellbinding, starlit sky.
Bourbon Vanilla: ‘Black Gold’

The craft of cultivating coveted Bourbon vanilla spans some eighteen months from pollination to final extraction. It begins with the handpollination of Vanilla planifolia orchids, which mature over several months, before entering a six-month artisanal drying journey that ends with their extraction. The process is labour-intensive but this is what sets Bourbon vanilla apart, bestowing the note with its distinctive depth and characteristic creamy sweetness.
